The Providore

Carefully curated with local produce, unique homewares and seasonal flowers direct from the farm, The Providore at Meletos is a celebration of our creative region. There are so many passionate and hard working producers, farmers and doers in the Yarra Valley that we are so excited to work with. Complimenting the ethos of Seasoned - our in-house newspaper, The Providore really is an extension of the publication – know your produce, where it came from and who made it. Our calendar of dinners and Meet Your Maker events are a fantastic way to fully appreciate the produce and get to know the talented people behind it.

Already looking like it has lived amongst the accompanying buildings for years, the build was conceived and managed in-house, with the styling and curation by parent-son team Steve, Vonnie and Ryan Frazer. Built over five-months with reclaimed and recycled materials, it’s so much more than just ‘a shop’. “With the volume of people visiting the property each week, it just made sense to build The Providore and deepen the experience of the visit.” Steve says. A formative trip to Indonesia in early 2016 inspired Steve and Vonnie. There they discovered incredible warehouses of Javanese antiques, many of which shaped the design of The Providore and are talking points for its visitors.

Through our antique gates you’ll be drawn into our little corner of tranquillity. Boston ivy climbs the walls and visitors sip on coffee in the sunshine. Jazzy grooves and the smell of sourdough, fresh flowers and lemongrass awaken the senses. Be tempted by the gorgeous range of home wares and learn the how’s and who’s by our knowledgeable team.

We offer wedding styling packages and have the privilege to work at neighbouring venues Stones of the Yarra Valley and The Stables at Stones. Using only local seasonal flowers and foliage, The Providore styling team overseen by Stones’ and Meletos Creative Director Vonnie Frazer, create beautiful, memorable experiences throughout the year.

So whether you’re on a day trip, visiting The Café for lunch or staying in The Farmhouse at Meletos, we look forward to welcoming you to The Providore at Meletos.

The Providore is open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm.

WHO WE ARE

ProvodorePort_12.jpg

We actually put off opening The Providore until Ruth Poriazis could start with us. Her 10+ years of experience in retail working with SEED as area manager of Victoria was a blessing for us new comers. Making a tree change from inner Melbourne to leafy Healesville, the change of scene and pace is a fresh new chapter in her life and career. “I love getting to know our locals and am touched by the loyal following we’re building. That loyalty comes from quality product, careful curation and variety. We only offer small quantities of really well made homewares and antiquities. Buying with Creative Director Vonnie Frazer is such a pleasure, her taste and eye is impeccable and we have a lot of fun.

Growing up in the family business that is Stones of the Yarra Valley and Meletos, Ryan has been involved in a variety of ways over the years. From labourer to kitchen hand, barman to graphic designer. Combining a passion for artisan produce and story telling, Ryan, with his Providore family, has sculpted a business/project/destination to be proud of. Curating the food and wine as well as hosting producer events, these subjects are really at the core of The Providore. Produced out of The Providore for both Meletos and Stones, Seasoned is an in-house quarterly guide, profiling local producer, staff across the property and feature recipes by our chefs. The broadsheet is the passion project of Ryan’s and a lovely collaboration with his brother Ben.

Rebekah joined us in Spring 2017 after returning home from some formative years in the floristry industry in London. Working in high end events and boutique retail, it was an inspiring time. Growing up in Malaysia, Rebekah moved to Melbourne with her parents and sister after high school and went straight into Melbourne University where she studied psychology. Her many years experience in social work and charitable organisations are a shining feather in her bow. Rebekah’s worldly experience, natural talent and calm demeanour make her a special part of The Providore family.
