Five minutes out of Yarra Glen, turn off the Melba Highway in Dixons Creek and follow Bottings Lane through rolling green pastures until you see the sign for Yarra Valley Custom Meats. With an onsite butcher shop selling pork and beef raised on the 550 acre farm, the public are invited to come and see where their meat comes from in a truly genuine farm-to-plate experience, taking away delicious free range product.

Mel Mancs breeds a mix of Saddle Back, Berkshire and Black pigs with up to 60 at a time roaming happily amongst the paddocks. Growing up on the property, her father has bred cattle on the site for 45 years. When Mel was 16 she proposed an idea to her Dad of breeding free range pigs on some of his paddocks. 15 years on she is now selling up to 300 pigs a year to restaurants and venues in the area as well as customers of her farmgate butchers shop. Besides the fantastic team in her shop, Mel is running the whole operation by herself: the farming, the deliveries, the administration.

With Mt.Hope rising above the paddocks and the property backing onto Toolangi State Forest, the property is truly breathtaking - the perfect location to breed livestock and sell quality products to the local community.
